[00:00:03] Welcome to The Messy Mind Podcast, a show to support you in seeing the messiness can lead

[00:00:09] to your live bulb moments on your host Tammy L. Davis.

[00:00:18] Hello everyone and welcome back to The Messy Mind Podcast and wow it feels so good

[00:00:24] to be back behind the microphone.

[00:00:27] I have to start off by saying a huge thank you to everyone for your patience and really

[00:00:35] understanding over these past four weeks.

[00:00:38] As many of you may have guessed or assumed it's true, I was battling a pretty nasty

[00:00:47] bout of illness.

[00:00:49] In other words, I was sick but the good news is I'm finally on the mend thank the Lord

[00:00:54] and back in action.

[00:00:56] So first and foremost let me share a little bit about what happened.

[00:00:59] About a month ago I started to feel under the weather.

[00:01:03] I first thought it was a cold or just something minor but the more that I chose to ignore

[00:01:11] what was going on internally, it escalated and even though I tried to push through

[00:01:16] it, thinking that I could manage both my health and my work as many of you all know

[00:01:23] that's not always the best idea.

[00:01:26] I also assured I ended up needing to take a break and cutting hours from work, podcasting

[00:01:33] and even some personal commitments to focus entirely on getting better.

[00:01:38] If you know anything about me, I can only sit for so long.

[00:01:42] However it was a tough decision especially because I love what I do and I extremely

[00:01:49] love and I'm excited to connect with all of you each week but sometimes our bodies have

[00:01:55] a way of forcing us to slow down whether we like it or not.

[00:02:01] During this time I really learned a crucial lesson that I want to share with you all.

[00:02:08] Stop doing so much and in the words of my daughter, you need to sit down, take the time

[00:02:14] to rest and don't be afraid to ask for support.

[00:02:19] Now you know what type of world we live in.

[00:02:22] It's where we constantly feel as though we need to be productive and on the go.

[00:02:29] But as you know and as I know for sure, our health is not negotiable.

[00:02:35] If we don't take care of ourselves, we can be there for the people and the things that

[00:02:41] we care about, passionate about and love to pieces.

[00:02:45] I was reminded of the importance of balance.

[00:02:48] It's okay to slow down.

[00:02:50] It's okay to say no, I just recently did an episode on the power of no.

[00:02:55] It's okay to take a step back in order to let your mind and body recover.

[00:03:02] And it is of course absolutely okay to ask for help.

[00:03:06] I had many friends and family members check in on me, step up and really support me

[00:03:12] and I could not be more grateful for their help.

[00:03:16] It made me realize that sometimes the strongest thing you can do is lean on others.

[00:03:23] So moving forward, I want to encourage all of you to take a moment to assess your own lives

[00:03:31] and ask yourself these questions.

[00:03:33] Are you pushing yourself too hard?

[00:03:37] Are you ignoring signs from your body that you need rest?

[00:03:41] And the last one, are you trying to do everything on your own?

[00:03:46] Take it from me and this is the second time this has happened to me in a span of about,

[00:03:52] I don't know, I probably about eight years.

[00:03:55] Burn out an illness or a not worth it.

[00:03:58] Take care of yourself first and everything else will follow.

[00:04:03] So again I'm excited to be back.

[00:04:05] I have so many great episodes planned for the upcoming weeks and I'm going to dive into

[00:04:10] some fantastic topics.

[00:04:13] Again, thank you for your patience and your understanding.

[00:04:16] And I also want you to know how much your support means the world to me.

[00:04:22] That's all for today's episode.

[00:04:24] Remember, take care of yourselves, get plenty of rest.

[00:04:28] Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

[00:04:31] So again next time this is Tammy signing off and I want to leave you with this.

[00:04:36] Stay healthy, stay present, stay happy, and stay tuned.
